Entrepreneurial & Freelance Work

In addition to my full-time roles, I’ve also had a few side projects over the years.

XP Merch

After we’d each worked at different screen‑printing shops, a friend approached me with the idea of starting a mobile screen‑printing business and needed a designer.

We started out printing small jobs for local businesses, but our main service was bringing our mobile screen-printing setup to events to live-print shirts. We printed shirts only as they were sold, eliminating any wasteful left overs.

We grew the business to profitability within two years, and despite the pandemic slowing things down, we continued to grow and win new clients over the next two years. We printed at concerts, trade shoes, art and food festivals, and even the College World Series.

This was my first real business outside of freelancing, and the skills I learned during that time have been invaluable as I continue my career.

Keep Omaha Weird

Originally part of XP Merch, Keep Omaha Weird was a side project of a side project. While we had a growing list of screen printing clients, I had the idea to create our own unique designs to sell online and at various events and maker’s markets in Omaha.

Much like Portland and Austin, Omaha has such a unique vibe and culture that I wanted to celebrate with a similar “keep it weird“ mantra.

Landlock Gallery

I got the opportunity to work with a small art gallery in Omaha’s Blackstone entertainment district. Landlock Gallery featured local art exhibitions, a maker’s market, and could even be rented out for events.

I created the branding and website for the gallery. The owner was so much fun to work with and it was a nice change to work on something so different.
